The Polynesian Cultural Centre is one of the most popular attractions in Hawaii and no visit to the Islands is complete without a trip here. Situated on the scenic north shore of Oahu, the Centre is within easy reach of Honolulu and it guarantees to show a little slice of Polynesian life by bringing together the history and cultures of Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Marquesas, Samoa, Tahiti and Tonga on one site. Visitors get to explore seven traditional Polynesian villages set across over forty acres of tropical splendor and learn first-hand how Pacific Islanders learned to survive and thrive. Watch natives in each village demonstrate crafts and skills such as creating clothing from bark, building houses without nails, spear fish and shimmy up towering trees without fear. You'll also get to hear exciting descriptions of cooking methods, transoceanic travel, and the preservation of traditions and history without a written language. As if that's not enough there's also ancient war dances, traditional wedding ceremonies and a spectacular show which features a cast of over 100 Polynesian dancers including firewalkers and fire knife experts. When you're ready for a break, hop aboard for a leisurely canoe ride down the tropical river that runs through the Centre. |
